Why do I bother

I'm in such a shitty mood about poker right now, so much so that I don't know why I bother. It pretty much started this afternoon. I decided I was going to play some HU LHE.

Sit down, 1st hand. BTN raises, I 3 bet AJh. Flop comes Qh 2h 2s, I lead out, call. Turn 10h. I check raise, river blank, it gets 3 bet. What does he have? Q2. Next hand I raise KJ OTB, he folds. Next hand. BTN raises, I call 109o. Flop comes 589r. I c/r the flop, villian 4 bets it. Turn J. C/c, river 2, c/c. Villian has.....67o. Flopped the straight. He quickly runs from the table.

Next person sits. In the 1st 5 hands makes TPGK+ 4 times. Then turns a nutflush, then flops a staright, then 2 sets, then a Q's full of 2's again, then a 1010 board, they have Q10, I have J10. They proceed to tell me how they've been running hot all day, blah, blah, blah*. At one point they won 10 consecutive hands at showdown. Not junk on my end either.

I couldn't bear it anymore, so I took a break, then sat at another table. I picked up a couple of small pots w/marginal over marginal. Then I picked up raised OTB. Villian calls. Flop QJ2r, villian check calls. Turn 5. Villian check calls. River 2. Villian cr's. He shows down, Q2. Now this is where it gets interesting again(I'm not a huge rigged theororist, but randomness I've wondered about). The Q2 FH seems to set of a heater. With in the span of 9 hands, I lost KK to A10o on this flop, [Jh Tc Jd 5s] [As] ,QQ to K5o on this flop [Kd 4d 8c 5d] [4s] ,AKs to 99(even pretty much going in, but when in the middle of this, bs), QQ to K5o again [Ks Js 7c Td] [7s] , then QQ to J9s on this board [Ah 9s 8h 2d] [Jc]. The last hand really did me in, i said fuck this and left.

On so many dry boards, do i seriously have to fear every single occasion that an overcard hits? That's such BS. 71/29, 72/28, 44/55(usually fair enough), 72/28(wtf twice in 5 hands?), then to finish it with 83/17 and i lose them all in such a short span? Seriously, gimme a break.

*I starred this because I really don't know that i've experienced this. I've had some ok sessions where things were better than normal. I've run extremely cold, but never hot. I've never won more than 5 consecutive hands going to showdown(in whatever form, HU, doing flips, whatever), but I've lost more than ten hands going to showdown numerous times. Seems as soon as I start to heat a little, I get severely coolered. Repeat that a few times over and it turns to tilt.

Then to top it, my PAHUD is jacked. It's telling me some stupid error and has basically returned to trial form. The forum over there had a general generic comment to get a new reg code, of course that doesn't work and support seems slow as hell tonight. Fantastic.

Some times I really do hate playing against fish in LO8. I know that 9/10 that my equity is greater going into the pot, yet they still manage to win pots out of sheer stupidity. One guy called down the flop and turn w/3rd pair Q kicker(I had K's up) with absolutely no redraw, spikes a 9 OTR. Everyone always says these people are great. I'm so infrequently the recepient of their retardation in significant(toruneys) or big pots that they just drive me mad. I'd rather play a slightly competent player, as they are much easier to control.

I was planning on coming on here and talking about how I signed up for deucescracked and what it's like, but I'm still pretty pissed. Maybe another day.
After seeing holdem manager there used so frequently and what it offers and with the problems with PAHUD now and what Ptracker seems to be lacking, I may have to switch.

A good night

As the start time of the MBJ season has been returned to 9pm EST, I'm trying to play it again. Last night I just missed the first tourney by about 3 minutes. I was pretty disappointed. I still felt like playing a tourney, so I signed up for a 3$ NLHE 6man. I also noticed an Omaha Satellite for one of the MSOP events. It was only 3$ also, so I signed up for that too. I wasn't really planning on playing in the MSOP Omaha event, but I figured I could use the T$.

Let me start by mentioning that I've played hardly any NLHE MTT's in the past year(maybe 12 at most) and only fool around with Omaha. I try to adapt my PLO8 play to it, sometimes it works, others it doesn't. I do want to start playing more of these small buyin events when I can, I think there is alot of dead money floating around and I feel I have pretty good equity and it increases when the fields are smaller. The satellites especially are worthwhile. Low quality of play with the larger standard payout is ideal for aggressive players. With T$ available now, I think it's a good bet.

About 45 minutes in, I was involved in a pivotal hand. I've posted it below and discussed my thinking after it.

UTG had been at the table for just a couple of hands, but was playing the big stack. I felt after the SB shoved, I likely had the fold equity vs. UTG on that board. It gave me the proper odds on the flush draw HU vs. the SB. Unfortunately, I didn't have the fold equity at all and had 2 less outs!. Fortunately, I got lucky. I'm not 100% psyched on the play, but I do think it's justifiable.

This hand bumped me up to chip lead. A few minutes later in the Omaha tourney, I picked up this hand:

Sweet. Next thing I know I was the chipleader at both tourneys! I don't think I've ever done that before.

The Omaha tourney was mostly a cake walk fom then on. I shortly was over 10K in chips at the final table, average stack 5K with 200/400 blinds. 6 won entry and 7th got $3. I wasn't planning on tangling, but next thing I knew, I was involved in a hand when down to 7 players that knocked me down to about 5K in chips. I was pretty pissed. Thankfully a short stack pushed, I called KKQ10, flopped a set and it was over.

It was my best play in a NLHE turney in a long time. I hovered around 3rd in chips until the bubble. I never got involved in many big pots, but I took down a ton of small pots with aggressive position play and a few timely reraises. Because I had no fear of the bubble, I was able to prey on those that were scared. After the bubble burst, I got involved with the tourney maniac and lost about 1/2 my stack AQ vs his 99. Next hand I picked up AA and redoubled back through him. About 10 minitues later I picked up KK vs his 66 and he was gone. From about 35 players(42 paid) to final 4 I was monster chip leader the majority of the time. Finally got to heads up and I was exhausted.

About even in chips I pretty much threw in the towel. I couldn't even see straight. Ended up getting it all in on with middle pair, which I would have easily folded an hour earlier, versus his top pair. No improvement and it was over. I ended up throwing away about $80, but it's alright. The money wasn't as much of the issue for me, I was just really happy with my play for the evening. Aside from that last hand, I really don't think I played any particular hand horribly. The hand above I don't think is great, and there were a few hands I maybe should have let go quicker/bet more on, etc., but I didn't do anything really stupid(shoving dry pots, etc) and I actually played some hands great. At one point, while three handed before the FT, I think I must have picked over 60% of the pots over a 100 hand period.

So for $6.60 I picked up $177, not a bad return for the evening. I'm looking forward to more.

Getting caught up

I've just been going and going since my last post. I finished up my week away, got home and was right back to work. Things have been going fairly well as of late with work. I've had enthusiasm again, which I think has put me in the right place at the right time. Just the other day, I picked up a late 18th Century chest of drawers for $600. With some basic conservation that I've started on, it is really going to sail for me. The quality and rarity of the work in it is incredible. At minimum I should be able to get $6,000 for it. However there is a chance, which I feel is greater than 50%, that it could be much more special than I previously thought. Meaning into the $20,000+ range. I'll start to get a better idea over the next couple of months of research. I've seen related examples before, I just have to figure out where.

Started playing primarily NLHE lately and been having a good bit of success. I'm just going to gring $25 6 max for a few weeks to get the feel of it again. I must admit though, I've been pretty much killing it. Up about 14 buyins over a week period, probably about 3K hands. I know it's a small sample, but I've just felt extremely comfortable and confident. I don't really feel I'm running hot either as I've had a variety of nasty beats mixed in. I've just been able to make the most out of my marginal situations. Making what I believe are the correct decisions.

I also would really like to get back into to playing more tourneys. It's not like I used to play alot of them, but definitely more than now. And I did seem to have success frequently in the MBJ events. I've played in a couple with little result. I need to find the patience and adapt to 9max soon.

I did cash in one last week, a $5 turbo. Funny thing was, as I approached the 2nd break, I was 5th in chips and about 20 away from the bubble. I woke up about 10 minutes after the second break with 400 chips and 3 away from the bubble(I think 24 were payed). After a couple of allins and doubles up, I worked my way back up to 3rd place. I ended up finishing in 11th after a couple of 60/40 losses. The blinds were so big it was just allin or fold. Still fun though.

Time to go.

Busy, Busy

I'm currently sitting in a hotel room in Massachusetts trying to get caught up. Been on the road alot this past month with stops in CT, MA and Philly. Not too much time for poker, atleast compared to recent months

After my most brutal downswing then tiltfest ever, I'm back up to a reasonable BR, by my standards atleast. I still can't believe that I dropped $1600 in 3 weeks. After the hell was over, I picked up a few hundred in a couple of days, got my rakeback(nearly 1K-woohoo!) and was basically back where I started. Since then, I haven't been too active.

Bought 5 shares of LostOstrich for the FTOPS, I hope it works out. He'd been running/playing real well, so i decided to take the chance. I played in the Stud8 event with little success. I've been playing alot of it again, but strictly cash and I don't think I transitioned from one to the other well.

I love NLO8 now. Shoving nut/nut OTR is so fun. Been having fun playing NLHE too. Played a juicy home game last week. I love fish. Also, based on the crazyness I saw go on, if online is rigged, so is live.

Time to go to bed as I have to get up in about 6 hours. I plan on being a little more active in here again. I'd like it if my plans worked out.

Sigh

I'm really trying to play well. Putting alot of thought into every single hand. The these situations occur. yeah yeah yeah. I want him to make such a play. yada yada yada. I say BS at this point. Why? Because this is so commonly the result. Aside from the fact that it is a constant drain on my bank roll(I have alot harder time doubling up than losing a buy in), it also leads me to question my play and to inevitably play differently. Twice yesterday it happened. I didn't have 2 double ups to help offset it. Twice I also lost AK vs AK, both preflop shoves. No double ups to offset those either.

I talk about the whole range concept. I'm really starting to believe that it's a bunch of bullshit. Oh, call/shove w/XX here because his range is RR-ZZ. Against that range your equity is blah blah. Villian virtually never has RR-WW, they almost always have YY-ZZ. Or in this case, one of the few occasions that I'm a huge favorite and do come upon RR-WW, they spike their 2 outer. Why can't I ever fucking do that? I'd love to be climbing one of these days, making progress, and not have this utter bullshit happen to constantly knock me back down. I would have been fine with the hand I think if he had a 7 or pocket 5's. He got me to get my money in bad, kudos. But for christ sakes, I got my money in good, why isn't it ever good enough?

I'm really getting fed up with it. All I've ended up doing recently is bitching. I'd love to find some positive in it, but I'm having such a hard time finding anything. Yay, my gbucks are up. It's meaningless because when I'm playing well, I see no reward. I so rarely get paid off on my good hands that it's nearly impossible to get ahead. It's tough to see any profit when most often, no one has anything when you have something.

I see jongreenway, mistaken69, etc. HH's and I just laugh. How the fuck do you always seem to find opponents who play so poorly, especially when you have big hands? And they hold up! I really don't get it. I shove top 2 vs a FD and it seems to be a guarantee that I lose.

Absolutely Nothing

Within an hour of playing now, I seriously want to vomit. How egotistical of me to play wraps with NFD's and NLD's fast, I should ofcourse realize I should be folding them immediately. What am I thinking when betting and raising the flop and/or turn with the best hand at the time? Especially if there is any kind of of draw out there. My favorite is the call with air and backdoor fush draw OTF. That means it will hit.

Lessons learned:
I don't win flips.
If I'm drawing against a set, I lose. If someone is drawing against my set, I lose.

If I have a K high flush, the A is GUARANTEED to be out there, regardless if it was 2 on the flop.

Example PLO8 hand, I have A2h4Kc. Flop comes 3510, 2 hearts, 1 club. Turn 9c. River 7c. Result 1/4. Or even better Jc. Result 0.

Now this didn't used to bother me, but when a dozen different variations of it occur daily and no action on the hands that do seem to hold up(typically involve checkdowned random pair), it becomes unbearable.

Granted, I'm not saying I'm playing perfect every hand. There are plenty of hands that I played poorly. I usually have no trouble overcoming those. Right now, it's not happening and it is incredibly dejecting. I went from the highest achievements in personal online success to right back where I was 3 months ago. I was playing great, making some great reads and decisions. Then slowly those great reads and decisions were seeing less and less reward. I'm down $1,100 bucks in a week and I don't see it ending.

For some, like someone like jongreenway, an $1,100 downswing is a cough, as he will win that back in two hours. OK, so he plays 1/2. Well make it $2200 for him and it's still the same concept. I don't play much NLHE and it takes me a really long time to reach that. I don't go on heaters. I don't have +$500 days. Hell, +$200 days for me are unusual playing O8. I have limited time to play, 700 hands in a night is alot for me.

I don't know what to do. I have so much going on right now with my business that my days are really tied up, so it's not like I'm dwelling on it all day. Actually, I've managed eneter each session with a pretty clear mind. I also don't like to take too many days off away from the game. When I return is when I end up playing my worst, as I'm still working of the rust.

I have 3 more days until I reach Gold in the Iron Man promo, which I've never done before. At this rate, I'll likely be broke before I make it. It's funny when thinking about the accomplishments of the month. Most points in a month and in a day, Gold Level, playing with Phil Ivey, biggest single table win, biggest pot. It's all been for absolutely fucking nothing. After this month, I'm no sure what I'm going to do. For once, I'd like to know what it feels like to feel some sense of extended reward. Gbucks don't help the bankroll.

Bloodshed

I'm getting fucking destroyed right now. I ended up tilting off $50 because of it, in an almost maniacal way. Just potted everyhand until it was gone. I couldn't take the beats anymore and flipped. -$300, -$400, +$150, -$250. That's my summary for my last four days on Full Tilt. I really like PLO, but I can't handle the beats, it's too fucking sickening, mindnumbing, bankroll exploding, etc. to handle. I've lost 75(fine 73, 75 sounds better)% of my 50/50's-70/30's on those three negative days. 75%! What the fuck? How do I ran that cold?

Here's just a sample of the crap.

I made the mistake of slow playing a pretty monster hand the other day(KKXXhh) on a KXXhh board, running into runner, allin, runner straight. 19/20 I'm playing it like this:

In a CAP game, am I supposed to check this river? I run into this non stop. non stop. non stop. WWWWWWWWTTTTTTFFFFFFFFF. Even if I did check/fold or check/call all of these hands, I may be down $25 less. Big fuckin deal. If I can't win any of the hands that I'm able to gain max value out of, I'm screwed. I don't win an enormous number of hands, or pick up a ton of bluffs, as both are hard to do in CAP PLO. Atleast I have little success w/that aspect at $1 $40cap. Notice in the above hand he has a pr3's and nut flush draw. That's it. 7 outs max.

I beat Phil Ivey

While sitting at my desk the other day, I decided to rail the big cash games while doing some paperwork. So I checked out Omaha Hi on Full Tilt Poker and saw there was a red sitting by himself, Phil Ivey. With no one else sitting, he decided to turn on observer chat. A few people congratulated him on his WPT win, which I think was just a few days before. He then said he was going to play some micro's.

About a minute later, I decided to see if he was playing and he was. He had sat at a 9 man .5/.10 cap table. And there were only 3 other people! So I decided to have a seat. It almost immediately filled.
First hand, Phil shoves UTG. 3 other people call. He has absolute crap, but it wins. Second hand, several limpers, Ivey shoves again. 4 callers and his crap holds up. Next hand, it just starts as open shoves. If you enter the hand, you shove. I picked up something like Q9o, shove and lose. 2 hands later, I pick up A6s, shove and win. Even though it's a cap, each pot is large because so many people are involved.

Over the next 10 or so hands, I managed to win 3 of my four shoves. I was patient, but picked up several premiums, including KK, JJ and AK. I think I ended up about $28. It was a big win by any means, but it was definitely fun and a memorable experience. If I can figure out how to paste actual images in here, I'll put up a screen shot. I don't want to post a link.

Like scratch tickets

I found a new little gamble over on UltimateBet.

I had $5 on UB for the longest time, just sitting there. So I decided I was going play some micro S&G and found they had some $2 games. Instead of regular turbos though, they had ultra turbos, with 2 1/2 minute rounds. They are a blast. They're almost like scratch tickets. They don't last but 15 minutes or so. Alot of flips.

Been running sort of blah playing PLO8. Went out massive tilt the other night after several 3/4's turned into 1/4's on me. After lossing a few buyins, I tilted my way back up a couple. Comical, but sad. I must say, it is hard to grind out a win when absolutely cold decked. My few and far between playable starting hands quickly went nowhere and my winning hands were ackward 2 pairs that were hard to get value from.
I have a feeling it's turning back in the right direction though.

The biggest problem for me is I start reaching, trying to force hands to much. Often inferior hands and this is obviously -EV. I think I may start to really TAG it up when I get cold, top 5%+ only hands.

Running well

So I've been playing alot at $50PLO8 and really starting to get comfortable there. I've been running pretty well over all, but I think I've been playing pretty well in between to maximize profits and minimize losses. I'm up about 15 buyins over the last 3 weeks or so, with limited time played.

Had my biggest one table win the other day since moving up, a total of 3 1/2buyins. Combined with another 1/2 buyin, it was a good night.

I've picked up the aggression recently, especially in the right spots I believe. I'm really putting alot more thought into ranges, outs within those ranges, fold equity within such ranges and fear equity. Fear equity is a great thing. In many, many cases, something which is very unique to PLO8, you can pick up a pretty big pot with virtually nothing. Winning high hands and low hands will often fold to river strength. Make them fear river bets.

Speaking of which, the river can be very important to mainting a solid win rate. Many times, pots are split that may not have been had you bet. I don't know how many times I've checked a modest high hand on the river and split the pot where if I'd bet even just a little, they wouldn't have called and I would've scooped. For example, say there is $10 in the pot on the river and I have middle 2pr in position, with a relatively docile board. Alot of occasions, this will checked and split between 3rd or 4th low and your high 2pr. End result $5. If you bet $5-7, and they call, you win $5+ the last bet back. If they don't call, you win $10. Big difference in end result. If opponent CR's, then it becomes a player specific situation. Point is, don't be afraid to bet the river, even if you feel you may just be splitting.

Just wanted to have a quick update here, it's been awhile.

Note- I'll be posting alot of hand histories over the in the Full Tilt Poker Forum for the next little bit in a series of Good, Bad & Ugly(GBU's) threads. They'll basically consist of one good hand(played well, optimized EV), one bad hand(poorly played, regardless of result) and one ugly hand(played poorly but still won, played well but lost, nasty badbeat, etc.) I think it will result, eventually, in some quality discussion and move beyond the basic level of thinking currently employed by the majority of forumers. Anyone is welcome to post their own GBU's in the O8 forum as well.

Floating

Knowing your opponents tendencies helps for a successful float in PLO8. When I mean successful, I mean stacking them. In the hand in the link below, I contemplated raising the turn, but I knew the villian was aggressive and would likely stack off with middle 2pr+FD here. If there weren't the flush draw, I'm probably popping it up on the turn.

Horse

So I decided this afternoon, something I wish I'd done sooner, to try to satellite into the Horse FTOPS via a $69+ tourney. At 2:00pm, with the start time set for 2:15, there were only 2 people signed up with 1 seat guaranteed. Now, I had one little issue, I had to be home by 4pm to get my daughter off the bus. I figured if it stayed under 16 entrants, I'd be ok. Also, I had my laptop.

At 3 minutes before start time, there were 9 signed up. I look after being seated, 22. Ugh. Better grab my laptop during the 1st break I thought. Played pretty TAGy and was third in chips at the break, feeling good about my play in general. I wish I'd planned it sooner because there really are some awful players in these Horse events. I like these smaller Horse MTT's, it's been awhile since I played in one and I generally have success in them when I do enter.

Dammit! Laptop's not in the car, I left it at home. So I'm faced with 18 players left and 35 minutes before I have to leave to get home in time. I had 2 minutes left on the break with O8 the next up. I only live less than 15 minutes away, but it can be an incredibly long 15 minutes. With 10 minute rounds, I should only miss a moment of Razz. So I close up the shop quickly and hop in the car. I'm just about out of gas. I'm now starting to tweak, just a bit. Book it to the gas station, not a big place but was not usually busy at all at this hour. Not busy today, except for two trucks. One on each side of the island, both getting diesel. Why is this meaningful? Because the diesel pump is right in the middle of the island, each truck was parked in the middle, completely blocking the rest of the pumps.

I'm freaking out a lot more now, just swearing at everyone, of course with my window up. Atleast one of the truck drivers was conscious of the situation, the other was typically oblivious. He seemed to try to pick up the pace. Finally got gassed up and raced home. I got home, ran inside and woke up my computer. Gave it a few moments, then clicked the FTP icon. SOFTWARE UPDATE. AAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I hadn't played on my PC at home since before the last update. This is especially annoying because my system will not update from that icon. No matter what I do, it constantly says error, so I have to download the client again to retrieve the update. This is very time consuming.

I finally get logged back in and it's in Stud. I completely missed Razz and O8! My chipstack dropped about %25 which by itself wasn't so bad, however, a lot of others had increased significantly. Another 4 had been bumped off and about 5 more were in the 3-4 Big Bet range. I was at about 8 BB's, so not in much better shape. I rode a wave in the 5-10 BB range and somehow made it to the final table. Pearljammed was there, he has an interesting style.

Again the rollercoaster ride between 5-10BB's until I found myself 5-handed, on the bubble, with only 900 chips during Stud where I caught a set of 9's and doubled up. I picked up another medium size pot and felt like I was rolling along. Instead I just went card dead, with numerous bring in's. Man I'm getting tired, have to wrap this up. Managed to bust the the bubble, but went out in 4th, missing the entry. Did win $160, so not a bad consolation prize. I'm going to bed.

I'm atleast running super hot in 5 card. Some ray of hope.

Feels like the Arctic

Damn, when I run cold it's amazingly brutal. If I jam ahead, in a race or behind, I lose. Don't know what it is. Last night was one of those times. 5 or 6 major pots nailed me. One hand really bugs me. On the flop I knew I had nut low, w/great flush draw and a gutshot. Popped it up after he bet. Turn brings a 4. Now this counterfeits me, but still only one low beats me, I still have the flush and gutshot. The one combo of cards that can beat me is ofcourse in his hands after we get it all in and I lose. 1 card changed everything from flop to turn. From basically having him dominated, he caught his miracle.

Unfortunately, I misread the situation. Also what was unfortunate was that it was another situation where I kept running into the nuts all night. I'm sitting there clawing away, trying to get a little value out of at best, average winning hands of middle 2pr and 4th low, when my opponents are catching solid top 2 and nut or 2nd nut lows left and right. At one point showed down atleast 6 straight hands where I was 3 steps behind. Then I'd have a big hand that was miracle quartered on the river, then repeat some nasty showdowns.

Jammed a few killer flops, like A2310c on a board of 5610(2clubs). Villian had set of 6's. Turn 9c. River 9. Ugh. Another big hand I had AK10Jss. UTG pots it, I call in the BB. Flop 10J2. I chk/call the flop because we're fairly deep. Figure I'm likely ahead w/top 2 and a gutshot. Turn brings a rainbow 3. Now I like that card. It's a lot less likely that UTG has a good low now. At best maybe a crappy low and straight draw of some sort, or still bare aces. I figure it's time for a check raise all in. They have KQJ7ds. What! They stacked off w/top pair and an OESD. Of coarse a 9 fell. Ugh.

I know I played poorly in some spots, but combine that with running cold, it was awful. I need to learn to reaaallllyy nut peddle when I'm running like this. Sow down on flop jams even though my equity is slightly ahead and just try to milk made hands on later streets. My hope is that this will keep my play in check and not deviate from proper actions. No frusteration jams.

Oooh, oooh

So I finally got my new laptop tonight and it's awesome. It's a Sony Vaio w/the 17" screen and fast as hell. I'm so amped about it. I went with an aircard instead of wifi, I think it's going to work out best for me because of such a rural setting. Haven't broken it in with Full Tilt yet, that'll have to wait until tomorrow. I can't wait.

This is the one I got:

One of my biggest

Been playing a lot of $50 6 max PLO8 and having fun. I'm not up too much, but I'm learning a bit more. Had a couple of spazz moments that held my BB/hr rate down, but then played well immediately following for a solid recovery. I'm not sure, but I think this may be one of my biggest PLO8 pots to date. After about an hour of playing, I concluded a trap/feigned weakness was the only way I'd likely be able to stack him. I KNEW he'd think I was bluffing.

Funny, I posted this hand in the Poker Stories section of the FT Forum and not one comment. Should've posted it in the O8 section I guess. I wasn't looking for praise, although it was a bit of a brag post. I was hoping it would lead to some discussion though, because there are so many angles to the hand that could be discussed. Preflop, why? Flop play, why? Turn play, why? River play, why? Opponents actions that lead to the hand being played this way. Anything. I end up looking at hands in different ways from these discussions.

Omaha8 is sooo much different than hold'em and PLO8 is equally just as different from limit O8. At this point, I've found so little discussion that I'm just working it out myself. Working on different concepts, approaches, etc. It's interesting, while very challenging. Someone to bounce off would be nice.

So for my 1st session back after a week away, I decided to sit at the $25 buyin 6 max. Figured I needed to work my way back in to playing. All came right back though.

Hectic Month and a Half

To say the least, I've been busy. That's almost an understatement.

I had a big show that I do following my last blog, then immediately signed the lease on this barn that I was looking to rent for my business. It was pretty raw. It had last been used for steel fabrication and was filthy. It had never really been finished as a workspace either. Drywall was once added, but never finished, it had no heating system and the only current entrances were 2 garage doors. And no windows on the 1st floor.

I had to wait about a week and a half for some parts for my heating system so I patched and painted the second floor, including the floor itself. Thankfully this area was a bit cleaner and didn't need as much work. Was a little tedious though because I needed to use space heaters to keep the place warm enough so everything wouldn't freeze. Oh yeah, no water either, pipes would freeze.

Once I got my parts I was able to get my heating system installed. It's a pretty efficient kerosene system. Finally, I was ready to get working on the biggest, most time consuming mess. Had to fill all the joints on the ceiling, ugh. Hated doing that, looking up constantly. After that the majority of the work wasn't so bad, just time consuming

One wall that I was removing a garage door from and adding french doors to, had to basically be completely redone. It was so wavy and had several exposed pipes that I had to build a lathe system over the old wall and dry wall it again. I had to square and plumb the whole thing about every 20" squ. It was either that or rip out the old wall completely and build it new. Because it was structurally sound, it would've been too costly.

So I got those french doors in, the wall redone, added another set of french doors and patched and painted all the walls over the next three weeks. Had to pack and move everything(almost done with that), had a major show in NYC, came down with the worst flu in years on my birthday, all in the last two weeks. It's almost done though, yay. :/

Don't know if these photos will work, but here are some shots of the progress.

This shot , the part on the right, is the only area I've yet to finish, aside from a crown like molding I'm putting in. I have a lot of rough cut 4x4's that I'm going to stain and attach to create a post and beam look. The rest are sort of before and after.

I'm proud of the fact that I did every bit of remodeling by myself.
